프랭크 밀즈는
1942년 캐나다에서 태어났으며 고등학교 시절 여러 그룹에서
피아노를 쳤던 그는 아버지의 뜻에 따라 의대에 진학하게 되었다고 한다.
그러나 음악에 대한 꿈을 접지못하고 의대를 자퇴하고 음대로 전학하게 된다.
1971에 The Bells라는
그룹에서 성공작을 내게 된다.
허나 프랭크 밀스는 자신만의 피아노 연주 작업을 위해
그룹을 탈퇴하였고 쇼프로그램에서 근근히 피아노연주를 하면서
생계를 유지하였다고 한다
그의 첫 솔로앨범
[Love, Love, Love] 이 캐나다에서 10만장이 넘는 판매를
기록하면서 화려하게 솔로 데뷔를 하게되고
1974년 그의 최고 앨범인
[Music Box Dancer] 를 발표하게 되는데 이 곡은 자신의 딸이 망가진
뮤직박스를 들고서 울고있는 모습에서 제목을 얻었다고 한다.




앨범 [Music Box Dancer] 는
그의 히트곡과 최신곡 등
방송의 시그널뮤직과 CF 음악을 통하여
우리에게 친근한 경쾌하고 밝은 12곡의 연주곡이 들어있다.
첫번째 트랙 'The Happy Song' 은 MBC-TV 오늘의 날씨에,
이 앨범의 타이틀곡 'Music Box Dancer' 는 아모레 라네즈 화장품 광고에,
낭만적인 분위기의 피아노곡으로
1979년 작품인 'The Poet & I' 는
1999년 11월 MBC FM에서 선정한 한국인이
아하는 연주곡 32선에 들기도 하였다.

Poet and I (시인과 나)'로 유명한 'Frank Mills'는
피아니스트이자 경음악으로 유명한 작곡자이다.
또, 경쾌한 'Spanish Coffee' 와
국내가수 변진섭의 [소녀에게] 와 유사한
'Valse Classique' 의 친근한 멜로디가 포함된 앨범이기도 하다.

Er spielt in einer Bar bis fruh um vier
fur ein paar Mark Gage und vielleicht mal ein Bier
Wie oft hat er den Erfolg schon gefuhlt
doch immer sind es and´re deren Lieder er spielt.

Und dann kommt einmal fur ihn auch die Chance
er macht eine Platte, die heisst Music Box Dance
Und bald danach kommt er in ein Lokal
da lauft seine Platte schon zum 20. Mal

Und die Musicbox die spielt heut immer wieder das Lied
das auf Nummer eins in allen Hitlisten steht
Und ein kleiner Mann der sitzt in seiner
Ecke ganz still und freut sich so ,
dass jeder gern sein Lied horen will

Und nachts da spielt er wie immer Klavier
er hutet sein Geheimnis und das weiss keiner hier
Und wenn er den Music Box Dancer mal bringt
staunen alle Gaste nur wie ahnlich es klingt

Er hat inzwischen paar Mark auf der Bank
und vielleicht hangt auch ein neuer Anzug im Schrank
Und doch im Grund liegt ihm gar nichts daran
nur seine gold´ne Platte schaut er jeden Tag an.

Und die Musicbox die spielt heut immer wieder das Lied
das auf Nummer eins in allen Hitlisten steht
Und ein kleiner Mann der sitzt in seiner
Ecke ganz still und freut sich so ,
dass jeder gern sein Lied horen will

Er weiss, die Zeit sie vergeht viel zu schnell
morgen ist bestimmt ein and´rer Hit aktuell
Doch kein Mensch kann ihm jemals nehmen was war
einmal stand er oben einmal war er ein Star

Es gibt bestimmt auch noch dann ein Lokal
da lauft seine Platte ab und zu noch einmal
Und wenn er da ist und wenn´s keiner sieht
druckt er heimlich selber noch sein Musicboxlied.

Und die Musicbox die spielt dann nur fur ihn ganz allein
Es wird wohl ganz sicher nicht das letzte Mal sein
Denn so lange es Musik gibt und so lang sie gefallt bleibt
ein bisschen Gluck und Freude auf dieser Welt
